Hey guys first time posting here (other than intro). Car is a 2004 x-type 2.5L 5speed with about 110k miles. Just recently bought and loving it so far. Found a few problems with it. One the ac seems to be doing its own thing. It works only for the first 5-10 minutes then it just blows air mostly humid air. The ac compressor is fine. The owner before me was the original owner and told me that he took it to the shop and they told him it was the evaporator (800+ to fix at shop). I didn't mind this because he gave me a good deal. But now I want to see if I can fix it on my own. Second issue I've found is the back suspension is making squealing noise especially when you push it down. Don't know if its time for new struts.

Any help would be appreciated.

DJ, Welcome to the Forums. We will take care of you. As for the AC, you can probably talk to a shop, have them evacuate the freon from the car, then you can remove the evaporator and then once you get the new one installed, have them recharge the system. You are not supposed to just discharge the freon to the environment to perform maintenance. The big "problem" with this job is that it is going to require tearing a good portion of the dash out to access.

As for the squeaking, try putting a little bit of WD-40 on the bushings for the sway bar. See if your noise goes away. That is normally the source of a squeak like this.
