Hi everyone Iam new to this forum and pleased to be involved

I recently bought a 05 2.0 litre diesel xtype and love it but I have noticed it struggles when I turn the ignition
I turn the key and have to leave it turned longer for it to start it obviously makes a grinding noise but it fires up
when it’s fires it runs on low revs rough a bit and I can’t get revs up for about 20 secs also the battery light is on
After that it runs absolutely fine until I in switch off and have to start it again it does the same
I know it has had a egr blanked and wondered if it was down to that or something else like starter ?

Any help would be appreciated

 

Sounds like a poor or defective starter motor which you should be able to exchange for under £100 and possibly a new battery as these cars can and will play-up if battery is in poor or weak? Get a quality one, I've just ordered a Yuasa 800 85ah from eBay for £95
