Default 18" rim and tire size question

Hi all.
I've seen some nice momo rims on craigslist.
18" with 215/45z/r18 tires.
I know this tire size will affect my speedo, but will they fit the car without modifying anything?
I,d get the correct size tire when they wear out
Thanks

iownme, the 215/45R18's will fit on your car with no problems from what I can tell. Even if you look at worst case, you are looking at a tire that is just slightly bigger than what is factory (0.7" in diameter). This will result in an error of 3% (so, when you are indicating 60 mph, you are actually doing 61.8 MPH). Not that big of a deal. This will not affect the car. Worst case, you will notice that the car will shift a little bit oddly when in a hilly area.

As for clearance, they will fit no problems as long as the offset is correct. You get that right and you will be in.

As for the rims that you are listing in your second posting, I would avoid those. those are RWD rim from what I can tell. Best case, you can put them on, but you are going to have some serious rubbing issues. You are going to be rubbing the tops of the wheel wells and the backs of the front wheel wells. All the additional rim width on those rims is towards the outside of the rim (as compared to your factory rims). So, imagine your current tires sticking out an additional 1.5". It may be possibly more because of the offset. I haven't done the detailed analysis of exactly how far the tire would move out.

Thanks very much Thermo. I prefered the 2nd rim but am now glad I didn't buy them. When getting my alignment I was told I had 3 bent rims...that's why I'm looking to replace. The momo rims are similar to my jag rims...if I get them I,ll post a pic

Thermo is 100% correct above. The 215/45 is a little big and only slightly larger than my 20s in overall diameter. Key is offset, as pushing them to close to the outer fender will cause you to rub fender liner. ET40 or higher is typically what you will want to see.

One of the rims had a bad case of roadrash so I decided against them. Shame...they were nice. So the hunt continues...I,ll add to this thread if I find more and need your advice again...or to post a pic if I get some +
