Default 2.2 Diesel - 37500 Mile Service Approaching

Hi All,

I'm about 3000 miles off the 37500 mile service and was wondering if anybody could tell me what this normally covers? Car is an '08 2.2 D S with manual trans. If it's little more than an oil and filter change I could well be tempted to do it myself, especially as the car will be out of manufacturer's warranty this time. My copy of JTIS (2003) only covers the V6 petrol models so I'd really appreciate it if somebody could enlighten me.

Jim, that's really helpful. Thank you very much.

And it all looks pretty straightforward stuff except for the fuel filter change. I'm pretty sure I've seen a write up on this, so will spend some time searching the forum to see if I can find it.

Once again, many thanks.

And after a spot of googling I think I've got it. How does this sound?

Take the engine cover off.
The filter is at the rear left hand side of the engine bay.
Unclip the 3 pipes to it.
Unclip & remove the old filter.
Fill the new filter with diesel, fit it and put the 3 pipes back on.

Sound OK?

Steve, glad it was helpful

so sorry I don't really know for sure on the fuel filter filter change, but it sounds ore than likely as per your post.
I'm sure a quick search will reveal something for you and you'll be more than capable of carrying out the work.

Perhaps you'll even do a write up c/w pics /video to help other forum users??

Write up huh? Never done one of those before. Could be fun!

Assuming I end up doing this myself, it will probably be towards the end of next month. I reckon I can get the oil (6l of Castrol Magnatec 5W-30 A1), oil, air, fuel and pollen filters and a 36mm socket (for the oil filter housing) for just a tad less than £115. Does anyone know what the UK dealers are charging for this service? If there's not much in it, I may let them get covered in oil. But if, as I suspect, they're talking £300 plus, then I think it will be time to break out the old tool kit and trolley jack. Got a few heavy bills due this year (No. 1 daughter buying first house, no. 2 going off to uni in September), so every little helps.

If I do end up doing it, I'll go armed with the digi camera, to record the fun for you all. Video is out - my swearing would get me barred from the forum .
