Default 2002 Jaguar X-Type - Cooling Fan Issue

Hello. The right blade on my cooling fan assembly does not work properly. When the car is running, only the fan on the left comes on when the AC is blowing and when the car needs to be cooled. I noticed that my car starts to overheat when it's hot outside during stop and go traffic... The thermostat and water pump were recently replaced. I'm trying to figure out if the fan assembly needs to be replaced, or if it's the cooling fan module.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

gshyne, the best advice that I can give you is to start with the engine cold. Get access to the 2 plugs that go to the fans. Make sure that they are plugged in. Next, get your hands on a multimeter and a paper clip. What you are going to do is to cut the paperclip into 2 straight pieces and slide them down along the two wires in the plug (make sure the clip wires don't touch each other or the body of the car). You will then start the car and turn the A/C system on the lowest temp you can set it to and the fans to the fastest speed. This will force both fans to run. Using the multimeter (set to monitor 20 VDC), measure the voltage on the two paper clip pieces. If you are getting 12 VDC (anything over 10 VDC is fine), then the fan is your problem. If you are getting something under 10 VDC, then your fan controller is dead. Just make sure that your paper clips are making good connection. If you are seeing 0.000 VDC, then this would make me think you are possibly not getting a good connection. If you are seeing say 2.000 VDC, then this would tell me that you have a good connection.
