2002 X-type powertrain malfunction

My 2002 Jaguar X-type 2.5 has a powertrain malfunction and goes into limp modeevery morning/night (whenever it's cold), but then the car would run fine again in the afternoon (whenever it's warm). Also check engine sign would appear with the powertrain malfunction but then it turns off again in the afternoon when the car works. Can you tell me what's the deal w/ this? I dont want to drive a car that only works in the afternoon

All I know is authoritaaa, that the cat doesn't like the cold. Seems like a few people have a few issues especially when its cold for some strange reason.

Authoritaaa...........dont know if its thrown any codes your way, or you can get them checked somehow?
If you look in the forum FAQ pages I've added a list published by my old mate racer of all the powertrain codes.

Check it out and see if it helps.

Sounds like the temp switch in the engine block is shot.....but the best way to find out is to get the scanner and pull the code when the mil light is on
