I am thinking of tackling the rear stabilizer bushings and links. What will I be getting myself into with this job? Is it just a straight forward unbolt and rebolt?

 

rayce, it is a very easy thing to do. Your biggest problem will be getting the nuts loose. So, start now and spray the nuts every day to help get them loosened up. But, after that, things are really straight forward.

 

Thanks Thermo. May go ahead and replace the shocks while I'm at it. It doesn't seem like the last owners had kept up the maintenance on this vehicle. When I had the rear Cat replaced, they checked over the car and gave me a laundry list(all undercar). I'm not sure how long I am going to keep this one, but the more I drive it and get things fixed, the more I like it. 150,000 miles and still runs great.

 

rayce, if you are down there, might as well. They are simple enough to replace. Remove the 18mm bolt on the bottom and then remove the two 10mm nuts at the top of the shock. Then the shock should fall out of the car. I think your biggest problem will be getting the lower bolt free. You do that, the rest is very simple.

Just for reference, your car came from the factory with Bilstien Comfort Ride shocks. If you do some looking, you now have 3 options for what you want to put back in. You have the Comfort Ride, Sport, and Heavy duty. The sports are going to be slightly stiffer than the comfort rides and the heavy duty shocks are going to be stiffer yet. So, what you go with is up to you. Price may be a driving factor as the heavy duty shocks do cost a fair bit more compared to the Comfort and Sport shocks.
