2002 xtype won't start

2002 xtype won't start
[ul][*]My 2002 x-type sputtered while driving. I pulled over and turned it off. It will not start now, it cranks, but won't turn over.[*]My gear shifter is very hard to shift from park, I have to force it. What might this be[/ul]

First off, my advice to you is to have it towed to the dealer or independent Jag mechanic.
Second, don't force anything.
Third - are you gettingwarning lights, and if so, which ones?

CHECK FOR FUEL PRESSURE AT THE SHRADER VALVE ON THE FUEL RAIL ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. LOOKS LIKE THE VALVE STEM ON A TIRE, PUSH IN THE CORE AFTER CRANKING, IT SHOULD SPRAY UP ALITTLE FUEL, IF NOT FUEL PUMP WENT OUT.
