Lol gotta go to Cali to get what I be on but I love gold and seen a gold hood ornament on a burgundy stype so why not be unique and gold all my trims out and get some gold bbs while I'm at it , I don't think it'll look bad plus I got the jag and everybody else jag look the same why not actually have something unique and standout rather then blending in

Preze, you mention trying to sell the car without any success to this point. Going to a gold trim will probably make it much harder to sell it, not to mention all the time, expense and hassle to get it that way. And if you think that by doing that you will be adding value to the car that you can get back when trying to sell the car that probably isn’t going to happen. Chances are you would be devaluing the car. A mod like that would appeal to a very limited market. There must be a reason you see very few cars come from the factory with gold trim options. That reason is because so few people like it. If you do happen to do it please post some pictures.

Actually, I think it might look pretty nifty.
You must use REAL gold, though. Honest-to-god REAL GOLD for the effect to come close to what you want. On your black X-Type it just might work, and work well.

It's gold - REAL GOLD - it ain't cheap. A spray can of paint is cheap, and would look cheap. Do NOT rattle-can it!
I do have to admonish you, however: Some of the other folks thought it might degrade your car, I don't necessarily think it will. But I am a bit put off by your attitude that as you seek to move up to an XKR that you see your X-Type as a "Beater".
All in all, though, congratulations on catching the "true" Jaguar attitude! The Salesman at your nearest Jaguar Dealership is going to simply love you!
(PS - You will never be able to use a power-wash on your car again if you gold foil it!). Remember us Peons, and post some pics if you "Pimp" the "Beater"!)
(PPS - Trust me, we are all praying for your Transfer Case. Hope it lasts until you trade up, kid)

I don't know if that came out sounding like I wanted it to, but you did say "beautiful car but im young/bored/flashy and like to stand out" so I figured you also drive it fast and hard.
Forgive me.
Anyway, THIS stuff might not blow off so quick in the carwash, and there is 80 square inches of it to work with:

I see Cadillacs with gold trim all the time. Looks sharp.

It may not be such an alien idea.
" In 1994 Jaguar was readying itself for the launch of the X300 model to replace the XJ40 but one last model called the XJ6 Gold was launched. It was essentially a 3.2 XJ6 with leather upholstery, automatic transmission, burr walnut trim and 16" alloy wheels as standard. At Ł28,950 this car was very cheap considering the level of specification and even featured gold plated "Jaguar" and "XJ6 Gold" badges on the boot."

Thanks for the support and comments and I did describe my car improperly by saying beater it's no where beater I meant just my winter car I was foolish and I'm not going thru the dealership when I get my xkr I got an family member in the corporate jag so I'm going thru a family program which is pure love but yeah real gold deff Its a jaguar not a sentra lol I may be young but not cheap. Also thanks for the advice on wash id be upset if i wash it and it comes off. If I dont do the gold I'm thinking the steel blue color on the
new xkr would look good too. As far as me being reckless I honestly do not drive my jag hard at all because I dont think it's that type Of car although I have sport mode I live in ny ( not in city so roads aren't as bad ) but still think its best to drive slow and be seen rather then push it and hurt the car. I also seen someone on this forum the very first day I joined say dont drive it like you stole it which I thought was a great statement so I've gone by that ever since. Once again thanks for the support , advice and comments

Preze - no offence but I think you've been seen as very young, and you say so yourself.
By no means are todays Jags old mans car, in fact the latter styling is quite "hip" and with it.
I'm glad to see you've taken the comments on board and the guys didn't really rag you too much, so all is well.
I hope you stick around and perhaps grow into the forum and perhaps the car, the brand even a little more........
