Default 2003 X-type

I recently got a 2003 X-Type, the problem is that the immobilizer acts up and the car will only start wend it disarms. But that can take 1 hour to a full day. Is changed the battery and reprogramed the FOB but I have the same issue, does anyone have and idea what it is? The doors look ok and the FOB opens and closes ok its just the immobilizer does not disarm. I also tried opening and closing the doors using the key but it does the same thing. Any suggestions?

Josasaja911, does the motor crank over or does the motor just sit there? If the motor turns over, then swap relays R18 and R20 and see if the problem goes away. If so, replace relay R20 with a similar relay. If the engine will not crank over, then try swapping relays R10 and R9. If this fixes your problem, then you need to replace relay R9.

After this, you will need a computer that can monitor the computer systems of the car as you have a signal that get generated in the key that is transmitted to the instrument cluster. If the number that is transmitted matches what the instrument cluster has as an acceptable key, then a signal is sent from the instrument cluster to the ECU which then grounds a wire to cause the starter relay to pick up and start the engine.

With all this being said, if the engine will crank over but not start, then this can be a few other things and will need to be eliminated one at a time. The most common is the fuel pump does not build up sufficient pressure before the motor is cranked which then will lead to the motor not starting.

On a side note, watch the center console when you start the car. There is a red light that signifies that the car is being immobilized or not. Is this light going on solid or remaining off. If it is going on solid, then there is a problem most likely in the instrument cluster.
