I have a 03 x-type 3.0L 5 speed.. I was driving along and all of a sudden the car would not accelerate, engine idles somewhat rough. Accelerator pedal goes to floor. I have replaced the pedal assembly, but no results. Can anyone help?

Hi, My XJ8 did exactly the same, turned out to be the fuel pump. Don't know about the X-type but the XJ8 has a Schroeder valve at the top of the engine, same as a tyre valve. Press the valve pin and fuel should spurt out. Worth a check.

Thanks, but my problem lies somewhere in the throttle body/electrical. The accelerator is electrical and is not moving the throttle plate. Some say t.p.s. others t.b. motor. I could replace the entire throttle body assembly, but very expensive. Surely some one has ran into this problem. Thanks again for your thoughts.

 

Sounds like it maybe the throttle-body...


New one here is the cheapest I've found...also you may need a couple of gaskets too and an ECU re-flash..
