Default 2003 x-type replaced ecm/pcm now gearbox fault.

I've had my x-type for 2 years. It was given to me because it was a no crank no start. One owner exactly 100,000!!!! I purchased ecm/pcm, keys and instrument cluster off Facebook for $150. Installed, x-type started immediately!! Only problem is gearbox has P, R,N,D. (2,3,4 do not engage) I have a red warning light on instrument cluster. There is no loss of power. The only forward gear I assume is 3 or 4.
I have spent at least a solid week learning researching how to get x-type on the road. I was so happy that i could finally use this beautiful automobile!
Now it seems I need to buy a TCM since I'm having this gearbox issue. It's very difficult for me to understand after all the posts I've read and research I've done that I never read anything indicating I would need to have a matching or similarly matching TCM. The video on YouTube showing how to install used ecm/pcm instrument cluster and keys all from same x-type does not mention the TCM. That video seems to be the goto when anyone who has the no crank no start issue. ( I did get the x-type running three or four times in past 2 years but never had gearbox issues) Am I correct in my assessment that to get rid of the gearbox issue, I must find a similar number and software TCM? I so wish I had known, I could have included TCM with purchase of ecm/pcm ic and keys.
Thanks everyone for your posts. I have learned so much valuable information I will use.
