Default Help! 04 Xtype P1609 ECM trouble Gearbox & engine systems fault

Hi all,
Can anyone help me with the following error P1609?
Mine is a 2004 X-type 3.0, at 83000miles.
I have been driving it free of trouble since I bought it second hand last November. It was fine in the morning but when I start it in the afternoon the orange and red lights on the board went on and gearbox fault\engine systems fault was displayed. The car went into limp mode. I took it to a neighborhood garage and the code read is P1609 (ECM microprocessor to microprocessor communication failure). I suspect that the machines are working properly but the ECM goes wild some how.
I was told that I have to go to jaguar to fix it. and it seems that replacing the ECM can be dear at jaguar. Is there another way to get around it?
Please help.
Thanks and happy holiday

Check the battery and the battery cables before you run out and buy a new ECM.

Check your manual. ECM may be a 7 year warranty item. It is on the '07's Jack
