After a protracted recovery from open heart surgery I have been back driving my X-Type for a couple of months. Last week I noticed the odd drip that was found to originate from the water pump. My mechanic changed this but the process involves disconnecting the battery. You can guess what I am going to say next - the radio needs its code input. Although I have always kept my handbook handy my girlfriend tidied during my layoff and I just cannot find it. I cannot even put on a CD or tell the time. Is there any way around this?

Have you tries asking a dealer near you? Depending on teh dealer and your relationship with them they might provide it for free.
