2003 Xtype Cold Start problem
Well ive had this car since march when i lived out in san diego, i recently moved to southwest missouri and as its been getting colder, im having an issue starting the car. Now i cant say that its directly related to the cold, but thats when it started. Basically when i turn the key it tries to start but seems like it doesnt ignite. after a bit of turning, it will barely try to start. After awhile, it will start then die about 10 seconds later. I did a couple searches and couldnt find much of anything to relate to this, if there is some threads already please provide a link, would be much appreciated.
Thanks

You need a new battery. The cold weather hampers a battery's performance, reduces the amperage. Don't just check the volts, it the amps that matter. I had 2 batteries (Duralast) go bad within a year. Both read 12 volts, but the amps were extremely low - bad cells.
This might be the solution to your other problem you posted.

Very likely the battery. I had a similar issue with mine. Lights and everything else seemed to work fine, but starting was a problem. It was fixed by a battery change.

Well battery was perfectly fine. Any other suggestions? what about an anti theft system, has anyone had an issue with that? a mechanic friend of mind said something about that.
Side note, i have a p1796 CEL...its been on for a bit so i wouldnt think that would be the problem, its a speed sensor issue

Ok so heres where im at:
After reading threads about fuses, relays, anti thefts i went and double checked all fuses. I pulled the nipple off on the fuel rail and made sure i had pressure, i did. Didnt really do anything else, thought id try to start it and on about the 4th turn it started....let it run for about 3 mins and shut it off, then it wouldnt restart.
Ive been looking into the anti theft area but cant find much, i believe if the little red light stays on for 3 seconds then goes away that means my key is good, correct? I only have one key
spark- im waiting on my buddy to come over to get a second hand to check if i have any spark.
fuel pump- see previous statement
Fuel- for some reason im thinking this may be some relevance, i usually always put 91 in my car but i was visiting somewhere and i cant recall 100% but i may have put 89 in it, i dont think i would have put 87 but i wont rule it out at this point. I have a half a tank of gas, would it be worth it, next time it starts to go fill up with 93?

check your fuel pressure with a gauge left hooked up. your looking for bleed down after shutoff. the fuel pressure stays(should) pressurized in the lines to give a quick startup and when you turn the key to the on position it turns the pump on momentarily to further increase rpessure for startups. if you have a bad check valve in the pump assembly or a leaking fuel injector youll loose pressure and have prolonged cranking. These are the most common issues for this but obviously not the only. If it no started this morning you may not have any fuel pressure anymore and your symptoms have been that of a going out weak fuel pump....thses are areas I would focus on till proven good and not the issue
