Will the proximity sensors work in my 2006 x-type? Is there a plug available on my 2006 that would accept the 2004 bumper with the sensors?

I quite honestly find the sensors on my X type almost useless anyway. They are far too coarse a setting. The sound goes "solid" when I am still miles away from the obstruction. I can easily judge this distance by eye. What I really need is something which tells me when I get CLOSE. Seems quite a few things on this motor are just a lip service. The electronics on several other cars of this age/ price knock spots off the Jag. Was definitely built for profit only. Although mine runs perfectly it wont be with us for long.

The module in the boot for the 2006 will have three plugs, the earlier one will have one plug. the function is the same but the loom plugs are different.

My sensors start to beep at 6 foot, and go solid at 6 inches, I find that to be easy to use.

I am pleased for you. Six inches I can judge without sensors. I want to know when I get CLOSE. "as I said"

I can only think of a contact switch/s on the bumper, to trigger a beeper, to get you to 1/4" or less.

Thanks for the informative replies. More retrofits, along with the mod so the boot can be opened if the switch fails. The improved headlights and the sat nav which cant be updated. Oh not forgetting the lack of bulb failure indication which was fitted to even basic vehicles of that time. Not to mention the trip mileometer which one needs a magnifying glass to read. Nice car to drive but spoiled for a few bob being spent on it.

Yeah, my SAT NAV bites. Particularly with so much new growth since fraking 2012. Lots of streets aren't even in the database. Drove a rental couple of weeks ago with no NAV but, had bluetooth. Paired phone, looked up maps, played through the vehicle speakers.

Yeah, Dr. Dome is working with that guy on system. He said it's $750.00 USD. That's if you do the work. Idk about the cost if you send him your unit. The instructions on procedure made me sweat just reading it, lol.
