Default 2005 X-Type brake master cylinder advice

What say the gurus out there on the need for an OEM master cylinder (around $600-700) vs. the AutoZone unit that is closer to $160?

Not sure about the master cylinder. But I recently had a new brake booster installed. Also got it at Autozone online. Cheapest price from them and had a coupon too. All together I paid less than $300 bux for it brand new. I don’t even wanna know what the Jag oem part would have cost. Just my experience

I think I used O'reilly on both the master and booster. This was a couple years ago and all is well.

If your master failed and the pedal sank to the floor there is a good chance you will need he booster as well. If you do the booster either new or rebuilt be careful as the rod may not be set correctly. It happened to me and when i hit the highway, the brakes heated up and warped the rotors. If you do the master and or booster let the car run for ten minutes or so and set it in neutral and make sure the car rolls.freely.

I wound up needing to buy a brake bleeder to get mine to where i wanted the pedal.

Good luck
