Default 2009 X TYPE 2.2 diesel limp home mode probs.

Hi guys, about a month ago I posted that my 2009 X type 2.2 diesel was dropping into limp home mode. I had the codes read and was told that it was a problem with the turbo actuator. Since then got some great feed back and ideas on the forum and this is what we have done up to now. We have cleaned the EGR valve which was full of gunk and tested the electronic actuator. The more I read the more I am convinced its the turbo that's carboned up and causing the problem. Is it a long job to remove and clean the vanes ? I know about the quick fix of drilling the turbo and putting in bolt etc and using Mr Muscle........does this work and not damage the turbo. Any advice would be really welcome as I love my Cat and just want to get her running properly again. Highly depressed and frustrated Essencehead.

The Mr. Muscle fix is the way to go.

Hi Dell, we have drilled, tapped and fitted a bolt and have given the turbo a good squirt of Mr M.....but still dropping into limp home mode but seems a little better. do we need to give it another dose of Mr M or should it have cleared it on the one dose....I am now going into melt down mode myself with this problem. Any ideas would be very welcome. Thanks

Firstly have you unclipped the actuator arm and checked that you have a smooth free full stroke movement on the turbo vanes ?
This will confirm the actuator is not being restricted.
If this tests fine, you then want to read the trouble code with a scanner.
