Default 2008 X type 2.2 diesel limp home mode probs

Firstly as a new member I would like to say Hi to everyone.
I have owned a 2009 X type 2.2 diesel automatic for 4 years.. I have recently started to experience the following problem. yellow heater coil flashes...screen says Gearbox fault and car drops into limp home mode. I stop car turn off ignition/motor... restart motor and car drives normally. Sometimes it will drive for miles / days before doing same thing or maybe it will do it several times in a few miles. Gearbox is fine and changes up and down with no obvious problems. As I am in France my local garage is not too experienced with jags and before I get them involved I would like some ideas to explore. Really would like some help with this and would appreciate any feed back. thank you in advance.

Welcome to the Forums.

Common denominator across most cars post 2004, is when this strangeness appears, the battery is #1 culprit. The systems rely on the battery more than any previous era of motoring.

The X Type Tech Section will have more info for you.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums essence head,

Good to have you with us.

I agree with Grant - have the battery checked first. A partially discharged or failing battery can cause many strange electrical problems on Jaguars. Next, a scantool to check for error codes will help troubleshooting.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Europe Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Hi all, I have been to my local garage and had the fault codes read......seems I have a problem with the Turbo pressure sensor so hopefully it will not be a hugely expensive repair. Thanks to everyone who helped me and also welcomed me to the forum.

Hi all, another quick question. When i change the turbo pressure sensor would it be a good idea to clean EGR at same time....or should i leave well alone ?
