50000 Km Mark
Hey guys and gals, um turning over to 50,000 km soon and was wondering if there is anything that needs to be inspected or changed?
I was going to upgrade to Bosch spark plugs and have my fluids changed but do not really know which ones though; so if anybody can point some things out it would help me a lot. Thank you guys in advance.

Shoot, that's only 31,000 miles..just barely broke in..
At this point you are due for:
1. Oil and filter change (should do it every 5000 miles IMO)
2.Inspection for fluid leaks
3. Brake inspection
4. New air filter
5. New spark plugs if you burn leaded gas
6. Accessory engine belt inspection (should be replaced at 100,000 miles)
7. Check and top up ALL fluids, including checking battery Electrolyte level
8. Inspect and/or replace wiper blades
9. Check tires for unsual wear and proper inflation (I recommend 32 psi +, per tire)
That's it.
In addition to what the dealer would do above:
I would highly recommend that you drain and refill the Transfer case, the Transmission if it's a manual and the rear differential...Don't ask how..do a search and you find there is about 6,000 threads on the subject.

RE: 50000 Km Mark
Ya knowI want to get the transmission fluid changed on my 2.5 manual and the last 2 times the dealer didnt have enough fluid on hand for the job. They are going to call me when more comes in so I can have it properly changed.
How much would the cost be for a tranny service and differential service from the dealer?

That I can not answer to..it's overpriced IMO..But they make a living on service, so can't knock them..Too bad you are not a DIYer, as it is pretty simple on a Manual and the rear end is easy too if you have a sucker tool and pump kit (both of which are cheap at any auto parts store)..Tryto get them to do the Transfer Case too.

I am a DIY'er.. I work on my mustang all of the time and have always worked on mustangs, monte carlo's and other muscle cars.(Motors, trannys, tune ups, etc)With the Jag I think I prefer to have someone else do the work since its my DD and I want it fixed/maintained quickly. I dont think the trans service is a lot since its a drain and fill but the transfer case is another issue.
When they call I will find out.. Otherwise I do not know of any local shops that specialize in Jaguars or other European autos that I would trust.

Again..there is nothing unusal or special about the JAG that is any different than you are use to working on your American cars...So, I would assume you have a floor jack or something to raise the car..best thing to do is crawl under and take a look...Like I said before above, there are many, many threads and pictures showing the way to do it with lube oils you can use..For example, Redline or Royal Purple make excellent lubes that will work in theseJag areas, just make sure the weight is correct, that are cheaper than the dealers's market up prices...I used Royal Purple in mine.
