Default ABS Issue

Hello All... been a while since I've been on the forum. X Type has been behaving and life's been busy...

So here's my issue, would appreciate any thoughts or help...

About two days ago my ABS light came on. I can restart the car, light goes away but I can hear and feel the ABS engage every time I hit the brakes. This will continue a few times then the ABS light returns and the ABS seems disengaged. The brakes work fine.

The other very weird thing I've witnessed is I can be driving at highway speeds, and the speedometer will drop to 30 mph even though I'm going faster than 60 mph and then go back to functioning normally.

Tried to have codes read at two auto parts shops but the saw no codes related to the ABS, only a P1111.

Could this be a wheel sensor or sensor ring issue?

It sure sounds like it would be a wheel speed sensor or reluctor ring. The reason you aren't getting a code is that probably whoever read the codes could not read a "C" (Chassis) code. Many code readers can only read a P (Powertrain) code. It would show up the same way, something like CXXXX.

Typical tool reads only from the OBD module (PCM) but you need one that reads the ABS module.

Default Update....

Was the rear passenger side reluctor ring... not too difficult to replace.

Appreciate all the input from the forum.... THANKS!
