Hope someone can help me out here.
2001 x-type, with manual climate control system.

Problem: climate system has a mind of its own. The airflow selector on the panel doesn't seem to work. Makes no difference where it's set, air blows from different areas. AC button does not work (no light) , temp selector does not work and the recirc button doesn't work. Fan speed selector works just fine.
Removed the CCM to see if there where any obvious bad traces, nothing. Removed the three stepper motors, one at a time, to check that the flaps all moved freely and then made sure the motors where also working. They all work.

Plugged everything back in, and left the glove box out so as to hear the motors more easlily. When I turn the ignition on, the three motors are turning away, seemingly trying to find there limits and a home position, but they just keep searching, 15 min and they are still moving around.

Any ideas?
