I bought a can of R134 with oil and gage to recharge my AC that fit with no problems and only took 10 min to do. Nice cold air now!

I just recharged the coolant in my 2007 X-Type Sportwagon - used a recharge kit with the hose and guage. Finding the low-side service port was the biggest challenge of the job. After watching the demo video for the product I used, the a/c was blowing cold air within 5 minutes. Now the test will be to see how long my coolant pressure holds. I live in Tampa and so far the a/c is working fine. I have pics if anyone wants to see where the low-side service port is hidden - post me a message. Piece of cake - well, a $44 dollar piece of cake. (Better than $1,200 for a new compressor.)

I bought a new vaccum pump from granger, its nice, but the vaccumm fitting is too large, and I cannot find any addapter anywhere. I took it to granger and holding it up to a catalog was best he could do. I guess I need to take it to an pro shop, but don't know where one is.

OK - done. I edited my post to insert the URL with the pics. So far the charge is still holding as far as I can tell.

I don't get too hung up on the actual pressures. Clearly, higher compressor RPM changes the pressures.

I generally like to see the suction side down in the mid to high 20's when revving the engine. High side can vary between 150 and much more depending on temperatures.

Pacobell,

You need to edit that string by removing the picshttp:// to make it into a link:

Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum - Pacobell's Album: Low-side port location (2007 X-Type)

Good info and pics.

To Make it even easier.

Low-side port location (2007 X-Type) The strut housing is the large grey cylindrical object taking up most of the lower half of the picture. The low-side service port is NOT the one seen on the narrow aluminum tubing in plain view. Rather, the low-side port is the one tucked between the fat tubing (with white tape band) and the smaller black ribbed tubing. See the circles overlaid on each image.
