Alright Long story short, AC isn't blowing as cold as it could be. Bought a tank of freon R-134a, can't figure out where the port is to charge it. Tried some they didn't work looking for help.

Spence,
Mine is an '05 and I had a hard time finding it as well. Finally found it. The tube you are looking for is actually below the tube you can see but it has a 'T' off of it. This T comes up and above the other tube so you can make the connection. I had to move some insulation around so I could get a good eye on it. It's almost next to the other fitting that is actually on the tube. If it were a snake, it would have bit me.
Good luck.

If you're standing at the front of the car, it's in the top left portion of the engine compartment. There are two hoses, the high and low port. Your recharge kit will only fit onto thre smaller of the two

You really shouldn't add freon with a cheap kit that only hooks to the low side. You need to have a gauge set that will show you high and low pressures while it is running before you add freon. The high side should run over 200 psi when it is running.
There are other problems that cause the AC to not blow cold, not just low freon and if you just add freon you can cause the system more damage or worse yet a failure that will cause you injury.

I don't know if this version supports aircon diagnostic codes, probably does so
(courtesy of Steve XJRGuy)
• Switch off the ignition
Press and hold the AUTO and FRESH / RECIRC buttons simultaneously while switching the
ignition to position II.
All of the panel LEDs and all LCD segments will flash ON and OFF. Any function LED indicator
or LCD segment that does not flash suggests a fault condition within that area of the panel,
or with the LED or LCD.
• Press AUTO
The control panel display will flash and scroll through the list of flagged fault codes. A maximum
of five codes will be stored and displayed. If 0 is displayed, no fault codes are flagged.
• Press FACE to manually scroll through the fault codes
When a fault code is displayed, an accompanying beep will indicate if the fault is present.
If the code is not accompanied by a beep, the fault occurred previously.
NOTE: Faults that are present can not be cleared until the cause of the fault is repaired.
To clear fault codes, press HRW and FACE(DEMIST) simultaneously. Wait 30 seconds for the A/CCM
to retest the system and reflag any current faults.
• Press PUSH OFF to return the system to normal operation (default panel settings)
If you get any codes post them and we'll try to help

Sorry 3G but Grammy was out when I made that post so the car was not around to take any pics.
spenceb, if you are still looking for the port, the Cat is back and I was able to take some pics. The tool is pointing to the port you are looking for.
And yes, take all information on the forum at your own risk. You better know what you are doing to avoid injury to yourself or the car.

It might be smart to have it evacuated and repaired per this bulletin. It makes the A/C really perform.Originally Posted by spenceb91

That Jag bulletin seems to say move the spring from one side
of the valve to the other. That implies that it was assembled
wrong in the factory. Is this correct? Did all compressors have
this problem or was it just the odd one?
Pete.

It is not assembeled wrong, you are disabling it, the new units don't have a valve at all.

Well, that's not exactly right either. The compressor is a scroll-type variable capacity unit. What you are doing is reversing the position of the spring and valve, forcing the compressor to full displacement all the time.Originally Posted by Norri

Nothing was installed wrong originally.

Steve, What's the difference between forcing it to the max position and disabling it?Originally Posted by xjrguy

No argument inferred, Norri. Just send me to stand in the corner.....Originally Posted by Norri

I guess you COULD say you are disabling the VALVE. Silly me. But that's right, the recent units have come with the valve deleted entirely.
Sorry to confuse!

Hello guys ,
I have a jaguar x-type 2.5L and i have the following problem with the a/c :
The a/c is doing well when the engine runs over 1500rpm... when it is idle 800rpm the a/c blows warm air .. I checked the pressure and it is ok , so i decided to follow the bulletin and change the spring position of the compressor valve but again the same problem ..the low pressure also is 120psi at 800rps , the same when a/c is off .. it seems that the compressor doesn't function at low rpm ...
Any suggestion ?

It appears you probably do have a failed compressor. I would expect that the high side pressure is low at 800RPM as well. If it is, that pretty much seals it.Originally Posted by VEFAS
