I have been trying to diagnose why the cigarette lighter socket in my 2005 X type is not receiving 12v power.

Ive been though similar threads in this forum but couldn't find the same issue as mine, so I started this new thread. Apologies if I missed someone taking about this exact issue.

I opened the fascia plate and pulled out the wires leading to the adaptor and measured the voltage across it, and there's no voltage.

Ice already checked, fuse f52, so I'm running out of ideas. Anything else that could be at fault?

Rest of the electrics in the car seem to work OK

When your Jaguar X-Type cigarette lighter loses power, it’s almost always a blown fuse or a disconnected wire. Follow these steps to diagnose
1. Check the Fuse First

• Location: The primary fuse box for the cigarette lighter (often labelled as the cigar lighter or accessory socket) is in the Passenger Compartment Fuse Box behind the glove compartment or on the passenger side A-pillar.
• Which fuse: Look for Fuse #68 (usually 15A) or consult the fuse map in your manual.
• Action: Pull the fuse using needle-nose pliers and check if the metal wire inside is broken. Replace it with the exact same amperage.

2. Clean the Socket

• Debris or corrosion can break the circuit, preventing power from reaching your device's charger. Use a cotton swab and a small amount of rubbing alcohol to gently clean the inside of the metal socket.

3. Inspect the Wiring
If the fuse is fine, the wiring behind the center console may be loose.

• To access: Carefully pry up the woodgrain/trim piece around the gear shifter.
• Remove: Unscrew the Phillips screws securing the ashtray/lighter assembly.
• Fix: Pull out the assembly and check the wire connections (orange and black wires). Ensure the spade connectors are securely plugged into the back of the lighter socket.

 

I tried those and it didn't work unfortunately..
