Default advice needed for exhaust system

My nephew wants me to chop the 2 rear mufflers on my X and replace them with Ansa resonators. He remembers the cool sound that my XK140 made with this setup. Does anybody know how this would sound on the X-type? How much louder should be expected? I worry that it might sound like a 'South Georgia log truck'. Any input is appreciated, Andy

c.3823, all I can tell you is that custom exhausts and X-Types you are going to have a hard time finding any information. The best advice that I can tell you is to cut the exhaust pipe (leaving some room to weld back together if needed), get some clamps and piece together what you are looking at doing and then possible take it for a spin around the block. If you like the sound, then take it to a shop to have them weld it together. You don't like it, you drive the short ways to a muffler shop and have them weld the factory stuff back in place.

Hello Thermo-Your advice is spot on. I will have to give it a 'field test'...on my still running parts car. Thanks for recharging my brain. Regards, Andy
