I have read many posts in our forum that aftermarket alternators do not work on our x types. I just replaced my alternator with an aftermarket one from EBay (California Alternator and Starter). It works fine. No issues. With 12 months warranty. And saving a lot of money.

I had two different AUto-Zone ones on the 2003 S-Type 3.0L; Both charged fine, but had constant "Batt" light. Finally swapped it out for a scrapyard version. Problem solved. Held on to the AutoZone model, it'll come in handy next time one of the 3.0L's craps out, while I'm having it rewound.
