Default Aftermarket CD Players

I'm hot and bothered about putting an aftermarket CD Player with ipod & blutooth. I can't bring myself to buy an ACM, because of price and stories of them frying.

Does anyone have an aftermaker deck they like?

FTJ suggested this:
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Motor...oductDetail.do

The CC installer wouldn't touch it and said a dealer would have to install as the head unit would shut down with codes.

This looks like a great idea. Any idea how long it would take to install and if any dealers have seen these?

i installed one in my other car and it took about 1-2 hours. I think you would be much more pleased with the ACM.

The Motorlora fix would let me have blutooth besides the ipod connection.I'm been reading the ACM is frying with some ipods. RCA jacks seem to be the problem. Do you have the ACM?

i have the thing (not sure the name) were the ipod is hard wired into the car through the lower part of the arm rest. there is also a spot for a usb drive to play music. all of the funtions of the ipod are done through the touch screen or steering wheel. I am not sure if that is the ACM. I think the ACM goes in the tor back part of the arm rest. I love the set up i have. Maybe someone will know what it is.

Stopped by a high end auto audio store today. Picking out a deck was easy and while Jag makes a kit to install, there is no harness available. He also said because of the factory wiring, he would have to install an amp, and re-run wires to the speakers. $1000 for that.
&nbsp\\;
When I went by CC, their installer told me I would have to sign a waiver before he would attemp to install an aftermarket CD player.
&nbsp\\;
This just gets more bizarre.

I wouldn't let the retards at circuit city sit in my car, let alone do an install.
And that's bullshit about having to install an amp. Don't believe a word of that.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if they made you sign a waiver, as it's probably standard procedure to cover their asses.

Additionally, I can't say I've heard of any ACMs "frying." If there have been any reports of that, I'd definitely consider them isolated incidents.
Just buy the ACM, and make your life eaiser... not to mention you'll save your console from the embarassment of an aftermarket panel to fill the space where the climate control/radio once was. Those are hideous.
They're not that expensive. They can be had for $250 after haggling, which is much cheaper than the $1,000 run around they're giving you.

$0.02

no i have that set up and love it. Jamey does not have it and wants bluetooth and ipod connections. as far as your ipod not working, there is a switch in the consol. is the switch on the full dot or the empty dot? wait i just thught about this. if your sun roof does not work either it might be a fuse. have you checked them?

If your somewhat handy with basic tools and have simple knowledge of car stereo wiring you can install a deck of your choice very easily. I picked out a deck from crutchfield.com for around $160. I didnt need the ipod hook up, so I went with front aux and front usb connections. Then I purchased a fasia plate, harness and steering wheel control module from nexxia.co.uk for another $150. Took about a week to arrive, then a few hours to install. Check out the setup:

Well, I bit the bullet yesterday and had the ACM installed. As expensive as it is, I'm glad to have something that supports my factory system. Now, on to blutooth!
