Default Air bag light

Should the air bag light be on all the time while driving. Does it mean the air bag is faulty or good

You didn't say if it was the light on the passenger side or driver's side. Here is info on passenger side.

Safety features include curtain-style head protection airbags for front and rear passenger, dual-stage frontal airbags and front side-impact airbags.

The Air Bag light will come on for a few seconds to a self test then go off. If it stays on, or blinks, there is a fault in the system somewhere.

When you first start the engine observe the air bag light it will give a series of flashes. The first flashing is one number , it will hesitate and then flash another time. That is the second number. It will repeat the sequence 3 times and then stay lit. You may have to turn the car off and restart to catch the sequence. An example would be the light flashes 2 times and then flashes 4 times that would be trouble code 24.
Count the flashes and post the number and we can help resolve the problem.
One of the most common problems and the easiest to check is the wiring connector under the seat. Moving the seat back and forth will sometimes cause the wire running from the seat belt buckle to the connection under the seat to come loose.

Your US spec air bag light is different to the UK ones.
My airbag light burns steady when ign is turned on along with all the other warning lights then goes off and stays off.

Dunks, U.S. do the same. I think avern was referring to the "light stays on" problem of OP. If there is a fault in the airbag system, rather than solid on at ignition (tests) then goes out if test is good. The light will flash a code series 3 times on ignition before staying on solid.

I know several members have the icarsoft diagnostic tool, but if you buy the slightly higher priced one you get module reset features, airbag, cycling of abs, open & close brake pads, etc.

• LR II can do it all-reads and clears trouble codes on all the systems such as engine, transmission,
ABS and airbag etc.
• Read Data Stream
• Full ECU Diagnosis
• Applies to the entire models of LR equipped with OBDII-16 DLC
• Easy To Use With Metal Dome Keys
• Oil Light/Service Reset:Support service lamp reset, Brake pad reset function, Steering angle sensor calibration etc.
EPB:Opens and closes the brake pads,Reads and clears EPB/SBC trouble codes,
• Turns off the ECU and brake warning light,Diagnoses EPB/SBC caliper functionality,
Resets the brake pad thickness service etc.
• ABS/AIRBAGiagnoses ABS/ SRS system codes,
Reads/clears codes of ABS/SRS system and turns off ABS/SRS warning light,
Performs bi-directional tests such as cycling the ABS solenoids, Retrieves ABS/SRS ECU information etc
