Default Air Conditioning Issues

Hello Jaguar Forum,

Owner of a 2007 X-Type 3.0, 133K miles. Bought the car with 13k miles in 2013. Been a great car. Had a/c issues years a couple years back, did the technical bulletin valve trick, all good for 2 years. Louisiana summer, crazy hot, a/c really got weak and finally stopped blowing cold air. Decided it was time and replaced the a/c compressor and associated parts.

Under movement on the highway or if the temperature is in the 80s it works fine, mid 90s or stop and go New Orleans traffic it is very disappionting at best, especially for new parts and Freon. Blows strong but temperature is just not low enough.

All vents blow cool under movement and they respond to changing the temp so I am not sure it is the dreaded dual climate control valve or climate control module issue.

I promise that I have searched the forum and have seen much about the S Type DCCM and some about the X-Type CCM but nothing clear and concise addressing these systems.

Finally, X-Type CCMs are pretty cheap on eBay, should I just buy one and try that?

Any help is much appreciated.

Ash

Couple of clarifying points. Changed out a/c last week.

Havent seen much addressing theses symptoms.

Did you change out the components? What components besides compressor? Was the evaporator replaced? Anytime the AC evaporator goes bad, the air from the vents will be warmer than expected. This is because a clogged or leaking evaporator won't get enough refrigerant to cool the air. If so, did you go to a professional to have the system vacuum evacuated, removing moisture, did they replace correct amount of oil, correct amount of freon?

Is your AAT showing the correct outside temperature (within 3 degrees)?

Dell, thanks for the quick reply. Bought the parts online and had them replaced by my local Pep Boys garage. I did not change the evaporator. Only the compressor and a/c drier. Sounds like I need to replace the evaporator. They look fairly cheap online. What is an ball park to remove and replace? I could try the Army do it yourself shop if it is an easy job.

Thanks for the note.

On main page is a downloadable JTIS (workshop manual). It will show you how. It's behind the dash. Clean out the drain tubes while you're in there just for g.p.

The manual has pictures to guide you. Note post #3 here on clogged drain tubes problem for an example of pics in JTIS=
