This is interesting because my car does the same thing (well, almost). My A/C does pretty well as I'm driving, but when I slow down or come to a stop, the air doesn't just get warm - it stops blowing. (Nothing changes on the climate control screen, so it isn't like the computer completely shuts it off or anything.) Sometimes it takes quite a while to get blowing strong, cold air again; other times, it starts again right away; and yet sometimes, it continues working as it should as I slow down/stop.

???

I have a similar problem, blows cold for about 15min in heavy traffic and then it gives up. If I restart the car it is fine for another 15min? No one has any idea, compressor and fan seems to be working fine, maybe a sensor fault? If someone knows I would appreciate it too.

My a/c is cold for a little while but then it gets a little warm, not hot though. But it will fluctuate. Sometimes if I roll the windows down it changes back to cold. Any ideas? Maybe it just needs freon?

same here, I read somewhere that it might be a recirculator door not closing all the way. There was a post that if you pull pollen filter out you can see the door and all you have to do it push it closed. can anyone confirm this, or at least point me in the right direction to find the pollen filter?

I remember this too and cant find the thread anywhere. Its 150 degrees here in Texas (feels like it anyway) and I need to figure out how to keep this AC cold. Surely some of the old guys (senior members) or techs can help us with this. ..Jim ....anybody

ok my problem was fixed, it turned out to need a new recharge by weight, maybe too much water and air in the system causing pressure to show fine on the low side when tested. Well after a complete e-vac, test and refill with 1lb - 13oz of new 134a/oil it is blowing ice cold all the time. The mechanic (ex Jag and LandRover mechanic that opened his own shop) said this would be the first step ($100)... if that didn't work we would look at a bad Pressure Transducer since the Condenser Fan checks out. BTW, blowing warm while stopped is most likely the Condenser Fan....

Default 2003 X-Tpye A/C problems

I just joined this site and noticed these old posts, I seem to be having the same issue. Its cold while driving, but once I stop it blows warm. I have checked the fans, both work while the A/C is running, Check the pressure of the fluid and it was slightly high, the clutch is engaging, and even checked the condenser after running the A/C to ensure its not hot (was told if it was hot it could mean bad fans).

Have the system properly checked and charged at a good A/C shop. The X Type uses a Ford type (fixed orifice) A/C system. I think when it's low on charge the compressor can't develop a high enough pressure to make the system work. At higher engine speeds (when you're driving) it can develop more pressure so it works better.

Default 94 xjs air conditioner problems, Pls Help!

when I turn the fan on from the dash, sometimes it engages and works fine, other times, there is no fan running at at all or it hesitates, going on and off. Or it fogs up windshield, at first you could hear the fan run but nothing came out of the vents, where do I look first?
