My 07 has recently developed an annoying rattle from the drivers side air vents on the dashboard (no it's not the window defrost vent). It's the only rattle that WD 40 hasn't been able to fix (I guess because it isn't a squeak).

My guess is that it is likely the mechanism that is used to regulate the air flow in the vent - the little plastic knob. If yes, then besides replacing the vent there is probably no other option since I am sure it is all made with plastic with nothing to tighten. However, if anyone else has faced this problem and found a fix it will be appreciated.

On another note - the air vent (the little plastic piece from where the air blows) retails for $420! that's right. $420!!!! On ebay it can be had for $35 and xtypeparts.com had it for $11.00. the installation seems trivial. However, I was shocked that Jaguar can actually price a simple plastic part that probably costs no more than $5 or so to make for $420.
