Mine had its 70k service last April now at around 74k.
Its the BIG one, main things are oil, filter, (mine also had coolant as it was 5 years old) ,plugs, rear accessory drive belt, brake fluid top up,washer reservoir top up,power steering fluid top up,and the usual checks.

OK, according to my service statement this is how it breaks down...
Labor $302
Parts $64

Basically, oil and filter change, inspection, & car wash, Oh and he said I might want to look at replacing both driver side tires...Nothin major here...maybe thats a good thing...[sm=proof.gif]

I keep hearing that the 70k mile tune-up is the big one. What is the ballpark cost i.e. what are you guys paying for these services?

Andersen, I'm sure there's more to it than oil change and inspection. They can't charge you $302 in labor for an oil change. Last I checked, both Jag dealerships in my area were charging roughly $80 for an oil change. Still an insane price imo, but no where near $366.

Has anyone done plugs/wires on this car? I'll probably do it myself. Hell, I've mastered the Duratec 2.5L and 3.0L, in terms of plugs/wires (Contour and Taurus), so I'm guessing this can't be much more difficult.

Anyone ever do a intake manifold cleaning. Not just pouring some seafoam in the vacuum ports, I mean tearing the manifold down and cleaning by hand. I'm assuming it would be a good thing to do since to access the plugs you have to take the upper intake manifold off.

Anderson the service manager is wrong, look at the maintenence sheet. There is more on the 70k than any other service as backed up bya Jag Master technician who was trained at Jag HQ here in the UK and who does my servicing (on the side).
Re the plugs...how to do them are in this months Jaguar World Magazine in the 2nd part of servicing the X Type:-

Spark plugs are due at 100k of what I know. Yes also I think a 70k service would be about $400-$700 maintence.

you can see here clearly that items like the rear belt and spark plugs are to be changed at 70k

366 for an oil change? 80 for an oil change? I went to valvoline instant oil change and it cost me a cool 45 for 1/2 synthetic blend.

Here is a good writeup on spark plug replacement...

http://jagmotorproject.blogspot.com/...ing-plugs.html

Also, while the intake manifold is off (to replace the back three plugs), you'll have an oportunity to clean and port the intake. Here's a link for that...
