Can the ATF level be checked using the fill plug?

The ATF level should be checked via the level check plug. There are plenty of articles in the forum for the procedure. Here's one

SAME gearbox as the VW 09A in Jettas so do a search for that if no Jaguar info comes up.

Thought someone posted that it was possible to tell using the fill plug alone but cannot find the post

I changed out my fluid so just used the easy method of draining then adding 3 1/2 quarts.
