Did you lose all sound or just the four main speakers? Jag speakers suck and have a history of all blowing at once.
If you lost everything, including the tweeters and the big bass drum in the back then it's a system problem.
Oh, silly fix... check the little telephone mute button on the steering wheel. I've heard of people hitting that without realizing and that mutes everything.

You didn't give a lot of information to go on (just happen all at once, did you just install something new on the car when it happened, etc.), but I can tell you something that happened to me a while back. My son was driving my car and said the stereo just lost all sound. The display was fine and everything seemed normal except no sound. What happened was he must have hit the fiber optic cable and it came out of the connector. On an American left hand drive car that would be under the dash near the driver's door. Not sure where it would be on a UK right side drive car, but if you look under the dash it would be pretty apparent and I would guess it would be easy to find. You wouldn't have to remove anything to see it. Just plug it back in and you're good. Hope that is all it is.
