Auto headlight switch

Auto headlight switch
Got a problem with autoheadlight switch that is really bugging me. Switch turns really easy to side and full lights but won't turn to auto position. I don't want to swing on it to much and break it but also want to use the auto function. Any ideas where I'm going wrong before I spend money on a new switch? Thanks in advance

In the regular "ON" mode (3rd position), you have the option to pull the switch outward to turn on the fog lights; one click for front, two clicks for front and rear.
Turning the switch to auto will disengage the fog lights and return the switch to its in-most, flush position.
Could it be that your switch needs to be pushed or pulled in the 3rd position? Maybe this will free it up to rotate into auto?

Phil, from the sounds of things, you have an internal failure of the switch. You can try giving it a bit of a twist to turn, but it should go into AUTO without much more force than it takes to put it in the other positions. Please keep in mind that there are 4 different headlight switches out there (dependent on whether you have DRLs, DRLs for Scandinavian countries, etc). So, give the dealership your VIN and they will get you the correct model headlight switch.
