Hi Goran

Your autobox is made by Jatco (= Japanese Automatic Transmission Company), and is electronically controlled like most modern auto boxes. I have a 2003 XJ6 (X350 model), with a German ZF transmission, and I also ocasionally get a sharp change, which I put down as a characteristic of the box, as it is OK most of the time. This is also electronically controlled.

The Jatco boxes are pretty reliable, (I had one on my previous car, a Rover 75 with no trouble at all), and I sometimes got a sharp change with that too. I did change the box fluid on the Rover when it was 7 years old.

The only dodgy component in the X-Type drive line for the All Wheel Drive models which I think yours is, is the transfer box attached to the gearbox, which was known to fail with some early X-Types until modified
