Afternoon all, I have a X Type 2.5 V6 AWD 2007 model with 80 000 miles on the clock. I have had a strange noise develop from the front left hand side wheel area when doing more than 80/90 mph consistently for period of time. It sounds like metal on metal and when I reduce speed it goes away. When I do short bursts at speed to overtake no issue. Anybody else experience this and any advise please. ps: no faults logged and no lights come on the dash when this happens.

 

Sounds like a front CV shaft starting to go.

 

I also had kind of same situation. The outside hub bearing allowed the disk brake rotor to go past angle instead of | strait it would tilt sometimes a little / \ . Jack up that side and use your hands to physically shake the tire to check for excess movement look up a youtube video
