History as I see it (having lived in Europe, Asia and the US during the rises of stretched tires in all regions).

As Allen writes, this started purely as a means for fitting widers wheels on cars and increasing the track width of the axles.

They have been doing this around 20 years in Germany (Porsche 911 owners may argue 10 years longer for those who fitted turbo rear wheels on non-turbo 911s). The VW/BMW scene in the US finally started doing this around 10 years ago. The Japanese/drifting also started stretching tires a lot about 6 years ago. Around 4 years ago, BMW starting putting what most would consider stretched tires on their cars from the factory. In the last 24 months it has gotten mainstream acceptance in the US in non-domestic tuning scenes.

My guess is that you will see more Jaguars and domestics with stretched tires starting around 2-3 years from now.

 

Your car always looks good. Side shot of the car and the wheels look perfect. The brembo brakes clean up the car A LOT!

Not sure I'm into the stretching thing. It reminds me too much of people taking 15" wheels that appear 15" wide and throwing them on a pickup truck with the package sticking out 8" from the fenders. As in everything, to each his own. If you like it it is your car and I respect that.

On a side note any pics of your car on some stock 18/19" wheels that are regular size? I prefer Jags stock wheels as they look so good, would love to see on ur car!

Wish I had half the ability you have to do stuff, my mustang would be pretty sweet instead of stock!

 

Those are the ones, I think that is what I aspire to have on mine. Those are spaced out both front and rear too right? What spacing did you use? I'll use a few mm less and avoid the fender roll. But that's the wheel.

I dig it brosef but the sport technos are still by far my faves.. So many sweet wheels you've rocked hard to decide which are the best!

 

I'm liking these the best, Brocula, but I thought that about the last set.

The Porsches look good on everything, but they have reliability issues, since they are Chinese replicas. The bead lip doesn't always like to hold pressure in the wet - even with non-stretched 235 on 9". I think I have them fixed (they are actually pieced together from 2 sets), but still don't completely trust them. Anyway, I'm happy at the moment.

 

This is now the wallpaper on my phone. Love it. I can't wait til I can afford some stuff for mine. Priorities first, like a bike rack haha. Found an OEM one that I should be picking up soon.

 

I give it another month or two before another set of wheels somehow finds its way on to your car..
