Default battery drained? car possessed?

Hello all, I have a 02 jag xtype and recently I ran into some very very weird issues with my car. I've had this car for about 6 months now and it's been great except for this weekend. I started my car normal early in the morning and like always my radio turns on and I turn on my headlight, this time though as soon as I turned on my headlights the radio shut off.....then it came back and stayed on....then about 3 miles later the radio turned off again then the ac then my brake light turned on followed by the "gearbox fualt" warning???? At this point the car stayed in 3rd gear and wouldn't drop or rise gears....then I lost all power and stayed stranded....I thought It was the battery so purchased a new one and everything was fine for about 6 miles when the radio began to flicker again. The car is in my driveway now so that's all the symptoms it showe'd after the battery swap.....can anyone help??? Im not so good with auto electrical, and I'm in the dark here...

Hope someone can help :/

Did the MIL come on and if so, what are the codes stored?

Oh sorry didn't know about the new member post :/

And not sure if any codes...today some one told me to see if the alternator is charging the battery correctly and to try a volt meter, I don't have one so I tried an old mechanic trick where they unplug the positive terminal on the battery to see if the car stays on or shuts off.....and the car completely shut off without hesitation......seems like it might be the issue

If it wasn't it may well be now! Disconnecting the battery while the engine is running is liable to cause damage to electrical systems in the X Type.

Live in hope that you've got away with it this time, get the codes read and let's see where that takes you.

If you do measure the voltage across the battery with the engine running, the variable charging system will generate a voltage likely to be as high as 15.3 v just after start up and for a few minutes, eventually reducing to somewhere near 13.6
