Battery light on -- intermittent

Battery light on -- intermittent
car is a 2002 x type
Have installed just because of age and preventative measure:
New Jaguar positive battery cable
new Jaguar negative battery cable
new cable from battery to fuse box
new battery
Everything was great until I put a new stereo in from Crutchfield--used their harness--now the battery light comes on about once a day *only* when you plug the usb cable from my iphone into the stereo....
Alternator was charging but now I am wondering...anyone else ever seen this problem?

Like others here, I found the positive cable to be scalding hot, when heavy loads were applied.
I turned on the air-cond, the high beams and the rear running lights, plus cranked up the stereo. Within a few minutes, the battery voltage was down to 12.0V and the positive cable was 300 degrees and climbing (at the crimp from cable to terminal lug)
Fixing that solved my battery light issue.
