Default Best struts and shocks for H&R Springs

I'm about to buy struts and shocks for the X. I've had lowering springs sitting around for a time when I needed to replace the struts, such as now. So, of course, I'm excited as f**k I'm thinking The Bilsteins but not sure exactly what model. Thanks for the input.

What leads me to think the struts are bad is a decent metal on metal noise even over the slightest little bump. I was thinking either struts or balljoints. I'm having the ball joints and tie rod end links replaced the same time I have them put the struts and springs on. Followed up by a 4 wheel alignment. Any inputs on this matter would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks.

mentality, keep in mind that the Bilsteins come in 3 flavors. You have the Comfort Ride, you have the Sport, and the Heavy Duty. In your application, because of using the lowering springs, the Sport shocks are going to be your best bet. They take the slightly lower ride height of the car with the lowering springs into account and make sure all is good. The others work, but I cannot garantee you won't run into issues if you really push the suspension to its limits.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just pulled the trigger on the Bilsteins for the sport suspension from eshocks. Not a bad price and shipping should be fast, there location is only 90 miles from me!

Cool Noise might also be this.

I had a similar intermittant clunk in the front end when traveling over small bumps.

It was this Jaguar X Type Stabilizer Sway Bar Link Links FRONT 08 | eBay

Grab ahold of each of these and give them a stiff wriggle. If they are worn, you may be able to nearly reproduce the sound; it worked for me.
