Default Blend Door shaft replacement

Hey everyone. New to the forums but I’ve been doing digging around this one and around others.

My heat just recently went out in my 2004 X-Type while on a short trip back home, and after some research, I was able to locate and identify the problem as coming from the blend door motors, more specifically the shaft that connects the blend door actuator to the actual blend door; it has pretty much been obliterated. Many threads cover gluing it, and I tried that, along with joining the two halves with another piece of plastic glued inside/between them, but the state of the shaft is beyond repair and the glue didn’t hold.

Has anyone been able to source the actual part that I’m looking for specifically? The motors themselves are easy to come by, but I’d rather not shell out the money for a new motor, especially when I’m not certain they’ll come with their own connecting shaft. The dealership will be the first place I give a call to tomorrow morning, but any additional insight would be very welcome!

Attached is a picture of the motor with the broken shaft and the (crude) fix that I first attempted. The black piece is part of the shaft that had broken, with the rest either being missing or still wedged into the motor.

GoncaloT, from what I am reading, the shaft that goes between the actual damper and the motor is broken, If that is the case, that pretty much leaves having to get a new stack that goes in the dash. Unfortunately, this would require removing the dash to access the vertical tower that has all the dampers in it. I know this a lot of work to repair as the whole dash has to come out. You may want to talk with a shop to see what they would charge. BUt, I would not be surprised if they don't try to hit you up for say 10 hours of labor which is going to be roughly a $1000 USD by itself, not counting the cost of the new vertical portion (which shouldn't be bad on the used market as this is not a part that commonly fails).
