X-Type: Removal of Jatco transmission?
I am planning this transmission removal since a very long time, and I was trying to prepare myself mentally for it...
I have 2 X-Types, where I need to do this: 1.) 2004 2.5L [oil leaking, and I suspect rear crankshaft seal] and 2.) 2001 2.5L [no reverse], both automatic, both have the Jatco JF506e.
I know this document: Technical Bulletin XT307-S941 (see attached).
I have a nice "Transmission lifter": I converted a big car jack by adding a steel plate on top. This would be what that Technical Bulletin refers to as "Powertrain Assembly Jack".
The height of the plate on this Lifter is 17cm above ground (on its lowest level - it goes up from there)...
I just "designed" that Lifter, because I just removed the transmission from my van and put it back on, and I did it like that:
First I positioned the Lifter under that transmission so that the transmission could rest on it and I could pull it gently off the engine. Then I lowered the Lifter (with the transmission resting on it), then I removed the transmission off the lifter under the car, as there was not sufficient height under the car to pull the Lifter out from under the car with the transmission on top. And installation the same in reverse.
So this is what I am worried about: The Jatco transmission is being removed by pulling it out from underneath the car:
Has anyone ever done this?
How high do I have to lift the X-Type, to make this possible at all?
Obviously, I do not have an hydraulic hoist (neither do I have a forklift). I have a huge hydraulic car Jack (the second one is currently converted to that Lifter, as mentioned above) and I have 4 "car-stands".
And how long would removal and reinstallation of the transmission take?

I'd like to add to my original question above:
I can only guess (as I seem to have a faint recollection of that) that the Technical Bulletin XT307-S941 is an update on the original Jaguar directive on how to access the transmission:
I think the original directive was to pull out the complete engine with the transmission attached from above (with an "engine crane")... - do I recall correctly?
Can someone confirm that doing this is possible (pulling it out from above)?
And has someone the knowledge to say that pulling the transmission out from underneath is either possible or not possible without hydraulic hoist and with just 4 car stands?
Or can someone say, that even thought the Technical Bulletin XT307-S941 is the updated method, that this method is an option only when having a hoist?
Or if both methods are actually possible (from underneath without hoist AND from above with engine crane): What is actually easier / faster?
