Default Bonnet mascot or Badge

So I’ve had a Jaguar X Type 2.2L D Sport for just over a year now and decided it just doesn’t look right without a Leaper Mascot sitting proud on the bonnet, but I’m seeing lots of pictures with X types with bonnet badges, what’s your opinion on Mascot vs Badges, and does anyone know why some mascots are 7”and some 5” and why some mascots don’t have the part number on the underside yet state there genuine

The X-Type for Canada and the US and some other markets was fitted with a leaper at the factory - there is no part number stamped on the underside.

The correct leaper is 5 inches long; the 7 inch leaper is sometimes fitted by owners who are insecure about what is in their trousers. That size leaper was not factory fitted to any modern Jaguar.

Thanks for that Gregory always wondered if the ones without a serial number were fake and why the different sizes now I know, the last leaper I seen on a Jag in the U.K. was on a 1986 XJ6 and that was around 1988 so a long time ago now, but I am seeing a lot of XJ and XJ6 and XType with a hood badge

FROM THIS I Removed this sanded the edges and polished it with a buffing wheel

TO THIS installed
Out in the wild west Las Vegas the Xtypes have the leaper installed and it looks cool. Needing to be different I removed the brand new leaper i just installed and used a steering wheel center cap to cover/hide the mounting hole.

I am pretty sure that here in the Uk we are not allowed a fixed leaper.

yeah Ive now checked the Leaper uk regulations out we are allowed one on the condition it’s a spring loaded one, but if a jaguar hits a pedestrian number one WHY are they in the middle of the road In the first place and two I think the Leaper would be the last of their worries 👍🏻

All of the leapers factory-fitted to modern Jaguars, including the X-Type, are spring-loaded to pivot.

I like the traditional "leaper" on sedan/saloon/4-door Jaguars, The 2-door Jaguar coupe's (pronounced "coo-pay") should have a flat "Growler" badge on the hood/bonnet..

'each to his own (taste).

What’s the best oil for a 1983 Jaguar XJ6 Series3 4.2L mineral or synthetic, as I’m getting mixed opinions that with Synthetic being a thinner oil it causes or is prone to cause leaks then I’m being told that only the early synthetic oil’s caused leaks but that has now been resolved by the oil companies. I will only be doing around 1500 miles a year so would really appreciate your help on this one and thanks in advance
