I figured that anything less than the written word viewed in it's orignal source would not be acceptable, so chose not to cut and paste.

I know (not believe) you'll find it in JTIS as mentioned above. The other documents cited for the V6 and V8 engines are SDS2002 and SDS2003, also available on this site.

Sorry to the OP for the hijack. I'm also sure you don't need a new caliper, pushing on the piston while twisting to get threads engaged can sometimes be tricky. It's a common issue

Of course no V8 engines are relative to this thread or subject.

Yep, as I said you assume everyone uses Widows..... and even those that do - appear to have problems with JTIS and that wild goose chase.
If you have ready access to it however, then why not screen dump or save the part of interest in this discussion and post it to this thread and thus make a worthwhile and meaningful contribution?

For further reference- JEPC (also a free download here) makes extensive use of 'left' and 'right' when referring to handed components. In all cases, it's while standing at the rear of the car looking forward.

Can't imagine doing any serious work on these cars without both bits of software available to me.

Can you not understand when I say to you that WINDOZE 7 and PC's are not for everyone here ? (Even Microsoft Inc. recently announced a shift away from its own second rate OS)

For you to keep referring to these archaic PC based applications are for everyones reference - makes me worry about you ? (or is it just a Canadian thing?)

However, to end this thread I am prepared to accept (without qualification) that the designation adopted by Jaguar Cars Ltd for Left and Right side descriptions of their vehicles (or parts) is based upon a view from the rear of the vehicle - looking forward.

Amen.

I use a genuine Jaguar X-Type Workshop Manual as issued by Jaguar Cars Ltd in PDF format..... being readable by anyone (regardless of computer OS or platform) this was published in 2011 - long after the X-Type production was discontinued and is therefore concise and essentially complete.

The said Workshop Manual was made available to members of this forum (by me) and facilitated by JimC64's Server resources for free download (60MB)

I suppose you could deduce from your thoughts that the convention you've uttered is simply not there or stated anywhere obvious.

Like in the Manuals; Index, preface or preamble.
