British car parts 1+3 rear shocks ?
Hello,
I ordered some new shocks a wile back from BCParts for my 78 XJ coupe.
This week i started the job to replace them and rebuild the rear brake calipers.
But i noticed something strange. 3 of them are identical and one has a much lower fitting ans much less pretension... BCpart wont replace it as they say it is the same shock ??? What do you guys think ? Pictures speak for them selves i think :P

my opinion is, return all 4.
if they can't produce 4 identical shocks, something is crooked. I have had a similar experience with 2 other Jaguar vendors who were trying to pass one part for another. I refused the part and called my bank to refuse payment on the basis that the part was not as represented or as delivered.
do business with SNG Barrat, they will not try to fool you.

I agree, they are bluffing their way. It is probably because the person at their end doesn't realise that the shock has to take a spring, and the mounting location has to be the same for them all.
It would be OK mounted on its own, I suspect.
Unfortunately, many people just weren't around when these cars were in production. The words "teenage scribblers" come to mind !!
