Default Brake help needed please

04 Xtype. The brake pedal will vibrate (anti lock going off) at a low speed stop. Not all the time, very infrequently. Also 4 or 5 times now the pedal has gone to the floor when this happens but comes right back up and stops flawlessly. I called the dealer and he told me it could be anything from an oxygen sensor????????? to anti lock brake sensors to computers. Please help. thanks Bob

mphy98, I would be looking at one of your wheel speed sensors not sending an adequate signal to the ABS and it is on the cusp of being good enough to be seen by the computer. As you slow down, the signal becomes weaker (laws of electricity), and then drops below the threshold, leading to a loss of signal, which would then cause the computer to see it as a wheel that has locked up. THis will then cause the system to pulse, leading to your issue. But, unless you have a computer that will read ABS codes, finding the sensor may be a little bit challenging.

Thermo is probably onto to something there...however for me I had a similar problem that was caused by some dirt / rusty metal getting in-between the sensor and the wheel bearing itself...I, probably like you, did not have a computer capable of ABS diagnostics so I jacked all four wheels off the ground, secured the car on jack stands, and then ran the vehicle in drive until I was getting the same slipping result. Meanwhile a friend looked at which wheel was still moving after the others had stopped...this pointed me to the sensor that was malfunctioning and I was able to correct the issue. Hope that helps!
