Try Tire Rack and have a look at the Akebono Euro pads and Centric rotors.

Try Auto Parts Warehouse as well. Got my EBC pads on there for a very good price.

aibeekay, I bought 4 cross drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads for $220 (including shipping and handling) for my X-type like 5 months ago. I got them on e-bay. Do a search on "Jaguar rotors type". You should get your fill of places selling parts. I have been happy with my new rotors (had to have the factory ones replaced due to being too thin). No major gains in braking ability, but then, I have no need to stomp on the brakes and lock up the wheels. I feel confident that should I need them, they will be there and stop me in time.

Thanks Thermo, that sure sounds like my situation. My factory rotors are now out of specs and I cant turn them anymore. So i figured I should get new ones and I'm looking at 4 cross-drilled and ceramic pads for about $180 right now on ebay. What do you think? My brakes are not tripping right now even though they feel a little low when i press on them compared to the way they felt before, but I feel i should go ahead and change them and get more confidence. If I get the brakes, how much should I be looking at for labor, I cant do it myself.

aibee- for my front brake pads and rotors to be replaced, I was quoted $450 total parts and labor at the Ford Dealer. I am guessing it will be generally in that range for front brakes/rotors. I am still trying to find a place that will do it cheaper but not really expecting to find one, lol.

I bought new pads for the rear from AutohauzeAZ, located in Arizona for $94 with free shipping. My rotors were OK, I did the job myself. I was quoted $525 by a Jag dealer in Omaha. I know you can get the rotors and pads for a lot less than $450 if you can do the job yourself. You might have a problem finding someone to do the job for less though.

Aibeekay, do you happen to live near the DC area/southern Maryland? if you do, let me know and we will get you taken care of in an afternoon. You will be amazed as to how little work is really required for doing the brake service. It would only take me but maybe 2 hours to do the brakes on your car. Unfortunately, the shops in the area are going to try to get you for about $150 an end more than likely ($300 total). I would ask around and see what they would charge to install the parts if you supply them with everything they need. You may find a deal. Doing it that way, should be down around $150-200 at the most for just the labor.

There isn't anything really special that needs to be done. Even for 3 hours of labor, they could do a complete system bleed/vent and get you all new fluid too.

Unfortunately, I dont live in the DC area. Im in North Carolina. Imma ask around and see how much these guys around here are gonna charge. But Thermo, Im going to be passing by heading to New York either next tue(Dec 8) or Wed (Dec 9th). Do you think we can see about it? Hopefully, I'd have been able to get the parts from ebay by then.

aibeekay, well, I will be working, but I will be getting off of work and back home by 3:30 pm. So, we should have you done by say supper time and back on the road. You will be amazed as to how fast this is going to be. As long as I don't run into a bolt that just won't come apart, I will have you out of here in a jiffy.

Just purchased a decent set of front rotors and pads on eBay and gonna take them to a local indie shop to get them done for $40/hr labor. Should be $40 (I hope) lol. Saving about $200 when compared to the dealer if this all works out.

got the brakes, just had a really dumb question for my own knowledge. Which rotors are for the front, the larger or smaller ones? I'm guessing the larger ones are, but just want to know for my own sake.

Yes, the larger ones are for the front.
I ordered Centric rotors from Tirerack and Carbotech pads from shonutperformance.com. I would recommend the rotors but not the pads. LOL They simply aren't aggressive enough for me but they ARE insanely quiet and do not dust at all, if that's something you're looking for.
