P0453 IS EVPORATIVE SYSEM CODE(EVERYTHING IN THE FUEL SYSTEM NOT LIQUID GAS)
DID THEY REPLACE THE CORRECT COIL? NUMBER 5 ISE BACK ROW AGAINST FIREWALL. LIKE I SAID BECAUSE ITS NOT EASY ACCESS I WOULD HAVE REPLACED AT LEAST THOSE 3 COILS.

FIREWALL

Coil #1 was (allegedly?) replaced one year ago, Coil #5 (allegedly?) this summer, I will ask them even if this will probably start a war of untrust.
And again, nobody could find what Thermo describes as "easy" location of the wire connecting bolt on the engine block. The only two connecting wires (5/16 head) bolts are the ones shown in picture 2 & 4 above which are frozen even sprayed with WD-40 and to force them could break them. For God' sake, Thermo, can you show me the location you are talking about? Thanks.

marcela, unfortunately, like I said, I don't have my X-type any more. I can't say that I even really know someone local that I could look at their X-Type to find it. Of note, the bolt is supposed to be on the head, not the block.

Looking at the diagrams for the car, the ground point is referred to as "G8AL". The G8 ground point is on the inside edge of the body above the passenger tire. The ground diagram does not specifically show the "G8AL" point. So, what I would say to do is to open the hood and find #2 coil (out in the open behind the passenger headlight). You should be able to see the 4 wires that run to the coil. I would start following that harness off of the engine block. You should hopefully see a black wire break out of the wiring harness and joint up with 2 more black wires (these 2 wires are coming from the other bank of coils and the noise cancelling capacitor). If you keep following that black wire, it should attach to a bolt on the engine. The big thing is following the black wire. Do not worry about where it goes. You may see it daisy chain to the other coils on the same side of the engine, Keep following the black wire. We are simply trying to find where it gets bolted down.

Looking at the pictures, I think it is the second picture that shows 2 black wires bolted to a silver piece. That would seem to be what we are after. But, this is where following those wires may be another way to get yourself back to the coils. But, this is just a guess as I don't have anything solid to base it on other than looking at the size of the wire and making some logical guesses.
